Design Trust Benefit Honoring Melrose North

What does a city owe its people?

New York has always answered that question the hard way — through discussion, creativity, and invention. For over 30 years, Design Trust for Public Space has been in that argument, turning the city’s most stubborn challenges into its most imaginative solutions. Their work has made the city more sustainable, inclusive, imaginative, healing, and future-forward.

This year, Design Trust for Public Space celebrates two projects that refuse to accept the housing crisis as inevitable — and instead, tackle it head on, with partnerships, innovation, determination, and a sense of justice.

C+GA is thrilled that our Melrose North building was selected as a 2026 Public Space Leadership Award recipient, recognizing its creative vision in addressing New York City’s housing shortage. The 12-story Passive House and LEED Platinum certified supportive housing development will be honored alongside the joint venture development team, the nonprofit Services for the UnderServed and the Bronx Pro Group, as well as the nonprofit arts education organization DreamYard Project. More than housing, a ten-story mural welcomes the community, and DreamYard’s BX Start program, where gaming and entrepreneurship meet social justice, is located on the ground floor.
