The gut rehabilitation and addition to the El Regreso Men’s Residence will allow the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Program to meet NY OASAS requirements and enhance the program and services provided. The expanded Residence will have a capacity for fifty-four clients and is being designed to allow for a co-ed facility in the future. The existing structure, a double row house, will be almost tripled in size with a structural steel addition. The work includes new façades, windows, and installation of an elevator. A rooftop area and new landscaping will allow for vegetable gardening as a form of recreational therapy. Space will be created for new resources such as group and counseling rooms, expanded dining area with a full service kitchen, a laundry facility, larger dormitory rooms, administrative offices, and a nurse’s office. The project is being coordinated with DASNY and OASAS.
