In Architectural Digest, C+GA’s Chris Perrodin and other architects weigh in on the role of architecture and design in criminal justice reform.

As a member of the AIANY Civic Leadership Program, Perrodin co-hosted a discussion with prison abolitionists, restorative justice advocates and justice architects to speak on NYC’s Borough Based Jails program to replace Rikers Island and alternatives to incarceration.

“No matter their ethical or political stance, the entire group agreed Rikers Island is inhumane and needs to close […] But the conversation shifted to how we need to not just design nice new jails—lots of people agreed the Department of Corrections needs cultural reform.”
